Once an Ocean

Reed Foehls 2009 record Once an Ocean pulls together a touch of country folk and edgy roots rock with the bold honesty intrinsic to modern songwriting, Foehls landscape of lush tones and solid songs touches the raw truth of love and tragedy, without sinking into saccharin sentimentally or cold remove. Once an Ocean features 10 new songs carved from the full range of human emotion.

This new release captures Foehls captivating performance and alluring, enduring songwriting blended with masterful accompaniment and seamless production. Jefferson Hamer, with whom Foehl frequently performs, brings an untamed edge, while John Rahams drumming and sound engineering add groove and depth. Frazey Fords breathy, bluesy voice and Trish Kleins essential banjo, harmonica, and singing that hooked The Be Good Tanyas’ fans complete the rich musical ingredients – elements of country, indie pop and folk-rock in a perfectly balanced mix.

Stoned Beautiful

Foehls third solo release in 2007 was completed after just three days.  Stoned Beautiful presented a no-frills trip, Back to the Barn, with simple yet powerful, direct compositions.

This album is a ‘must hear’ with songs crafted in partnership with several talented artists, and close friends of Foehl.

The title track “Stoned Beautiful” and the song “Beautiful Life” were co-written by Foehl & Wes Hutchinson.

Putnam Murdock & Foehl co-wrote ”Carmalina, Chances Are, St Johns Smith Square, Wake Up the Dead”  Murdock also plays a wicked Guitar and background vocals on those tracks from the album.

Spark

Reed Foehls 2004 album, Spark seems to be an idealist's view of love. It seems that Foehl's last run at it didn't go so swimmingly. Everyone knows that love is a battlefield, and Mr. Foehl is among the wounded. Do you know what wounded soldiers do? Well, at least in Foehl's case, they write beautiful music.

All of the music on Spark is written by Foehl, except for "Turn Your Lights Down Low," a Bob Marley cover. The lyrical content and soul of the song blend so well with the rest of the album that it takes a while to realize it’s a cover.   - The Boise Weekly, Dan McMahon

Reed Foehl – New 2013 Album – Press Release  (NeverFoehl Records, 3/12/13)

We’re excited to announce that alternative folk artist Reed Foehl is in the final stages to releasing his latest album!  Reed brought in some of his favorite folk and Americana musicians from around North America to help in the making of what’s guaranteed to be one of his finest works yet!

The dream team behind this upcoming release ~ Reed Foehl on vocals/guitar/ harmonica, with studio engineer and drummer John Raham, and Americana guitar ninja Jefferson Hamer (+ some very special guests)  ~ The same creative forces that teamed up on Foehl’s highly acclaimed 2009 “Once An Ocean” album.

The idea for the new album was to capture Reed Foehl’s authentic, humble storytelling, delivered with his heartfelt voice.  Foehl went for a different sound this time around with less production and a more focus on traditional recording methods. “The whole band will be set up in one room and we will record it live. It will be more raw and simple, yet intimate and flowing. We are going to tape, so it will sound good. Warm and nice. I am going to put this record out on vinyl also. Vinyl is so much more of an experience. You can hold the artwork in your hand, read the lyrics, and be more involved.” RF
